We are a dynamic, inclusive, egalitarian, and spiritually enriching community. We welcome you, wherever you are on your Jewish journey.
Congregation Ohev Beth Sholom exists for its members and the greater community, respecting their diversity and wide range of beliefs, backgrounds, lifestyles, and needs. We strive to be supportive, reaching out to newcomers to the community and to the congregation, as well as to our established members, interfaith families, and friends. Our goal is to foster togetherness, warmth, and friendship.
Basic membership fees entitle members to all regular and holiday services, use of the Temple for life cycle events, including burial rights in Congregation Ohev Beth Sholom’s cemetery, educational programs, and social functions. Membership in Sisterhood and Brotherhood is free for the first year of Temple membership.
In keeping with the URJ’s guidelines, no one is denied membership because of financial difficulties. Requests for relief may be made directly to the Executive Director, Sarah Wilschek. Requests should be made in writing and sent to the Temple office. All requests are kept strictly confidential.
Once an application is received, membership is then voted on by the Congregation Ohev Beth Sholom Board of Trustees. Religious school fees are handled separately.
Members are also encouraged to join A.R.Z.A., the Association of Reform Zionists of America, which supports the building up and strengthening of Reform Judaism in Israel.
We offer several membership categories to reflect different life stages and circumstances. Contact our Executive Director, Sarah Wilschek, to discuss the category that best fits your situation. No one is refused membership for financial reasons.
