Sarah B Wilschek, MNP

Sarah Wilschek serves as the Executive Director of Congregation Ohev Beth Sholom, where she is deeply committed to building a strong, connected, and vibrant Jewish community. Since stepping into the role in 2019, she has helped guide OBS through meaningful growth and transformation, including a historic merger that brought multiple congregations together into one unified community.

A graduate of The Ohio State University, Sarah earned her Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management and Jewish Communal Service from Gratz College, where her work explored the history and future of Jewish life in Youngstown. Her professional journey—including leadership roles at the Jewish Community Center—has always been rooted in creating spaces where people feel a true sense of belonging.

In addition to her professional work, Sarah is an active leader in the broader community, serving nationally as a member of the National Association of Temple Administrators (NATA), the Commission on Social Action (CSA) with the URJ, and the Reform Pension Equity Initiative (RPEI). Closer to home, Sarah serves as President of Kent State Hillel, ServiceCorps, the Commission for Jewish Education, and on advisory and governance boards, including Youngstown State University’s Center for Holocaust and Judaic Studies and several local nonprofit organizations.

Sarah believes that community is built through relationships—through showing up for one another, sharing meaningful experiences, and creating opportunities to connect across generations. She is passionate about ensuring that Ohev Beth Sholom is not just a place people come to, but a place they can call home.

Sarah lives in the Youngstown area with her husband, David, and their children, Jacob and Shayna.
